want to thank you again for the opportunity to
get my children a gift. This is by far one of the most difficult
financial times I have had and I was ready to break the news to my
children that they will not have a Christmas. Then you called me
and brought some hopeful news!!! I am very grateful that I won't have
to
break my children's hearts and explain to them why they did not get any
gifts like their friends. This is a blessing for single parents such as myself. I honestly would not have known what to do. |

Thank you, thank you. We so much need and
appreciate this. My kids usually do not get much during the
holidays and it is kind of painful for them to watch other kids have so
much. The toys from the toy shop are so wonderful and keep them
busy with hours of play, reading and projects. I try to select
toys
they can build or create instead of action figures that don't do
much. Again thanks for offering quality toys to low-income families. There really is a Santa!! |

let others know how much we appreciate all the
time and effort in putting this together for families such as
ours.
My husband had a stroke 2 years ago (at 45 due to a bacterial
infection)
and has not been able to return to work since. Even though he is
recovering his left side he is not the same person in many ways and now
suffers from a seizure disorder and severe depression. You know
how
when you have kids and then you look back and think "what did we do
before kids?" that's the way it is for me now with my
husband "what did we do before the stroke?" type of
thing. Our boys lives has been turned upside down because of this
illness
(in my 7 year olds words) "taking his dad away" and to be able
to give them their Christmas morning the way they always have had means
a
lot to me. This year is especially hard in that those first two
years we had many friends and family helping us, but as time goes on
people understandably don't see that we continue to struggle
financially. I have never had to seek out agencies such as yours in the past and had always been one of those people who donated or gave time to charities. It was hard that first year to come in and get the toys for my kids, but the way you have set it up makes one feel better about coming. To continue to have support from Urban Ministries helps make the holidays that much less stressful for me thus adds more joy to our boys holiday. I have had to learn to accept assistance when offered for my boys' sake, and wanted to give you a snapshot of one of the families who benefits from all you do. I really appreciate it! |
